The Language Cheque “Professional Project”
A fast way to employment, guaranteed!
This is a free language cheque available to any active job-seeker who wishes to gain or improve his/her language skills in French, English, Dutch or German. The opportunity to take language courses will help you during the interview process and drastically increase your chances to secure a job. The language cheque can also be used to prepare for a language test.
Who is eligible to enrol in the “Professional Project”?
Each condition below must be met:
· You have basic knowledge of either French or Dutch/Flemish
· You reside in Brussels
· You are enrolled with ACTIRIS as an unemployed job-seeker
· You have signed a “Contract Professional Project” (CPP)
· You have passed a language test in an ACTIRIS office
What type of Language Training exactly?
The language Cheque “Professional Project” allows you to take language courses in French, English, Dutch/Flemish or German.
If you have scored less than 30% on the language test (French, English, German or Dutch/Flemish), you benefit from 80 hours of group classes (minimum 3, maximum 6 participants) with our school or other ACTIRIS partner.
If you have scored higher than 30% on the language test (French, English, German or Dutch/Flemish), you benefit from 60 hours of one-to-one lessons or 80 hours of group courses (minimum 3, maximum 6 participants) with our school or with other ACTIRIS partner.
These language courses are especially geared towards increasing your chances to secure employment, prepare a motivation letter/CV or to prepare for a language exam.
I meet the conditions, how do I enrol?
Schedule a meeting at any ACTIRIS Agency to take a language test. When you are finished with the test, you will receive a ‘Project Professional” Language Cheque that is valid for 6 months. If you have scored less than 30% on a Dutch/Flemish test, you benefit from 80 hours of group courses (minimum 3, maximum 6 participants) with our school or with other ACTIRIS partner.
If you don’ meet the conditions for Enrolment in the “Professional Project”, we recommend that you schedule a meeting with an ACTIRIS representatives anyway, as they provide other various services, each one tailored to your needs.

The Language Cheque “Job”
This is also a free language cheque offered by ACTIRIS, but is geared towards a former job-seeker who recently became employed and whose lack of language skills (in French, English, Dutch/Flemish or German) is an obstacle to their job-responsibility. This Language Cheque “Job”, gives you the chance to take a language course as soon as you are hired or launched your freelance career.
Who is eligible?
To benefit from a Language Cheque “Job”, the following conditions must be met:
· You have been enrolled with ACTIRIS as a job-seeker
before starting your job.
You have basic knowledge of French or Flemish/Dutch.
You have taken a language test at an ACTIRIS agency before
signing the contract for your new job or before you officially
registered as a freelancer.
· Your reside in Brussels.
or
· Your future employer is based in Brussels.
or
You are a freelancer and your office is based in Brussels
What are the advantages?
The Language Cheque “Job” is sponsored 100% by ACTIRIS. It enables you to obtain new skills or brush up on the skills you already have quickly, efficiently in a personalized way to meet the language skills requested for your freshly started job.
What Type of Language Training exactly?
Based upon your score on the language test, this cheque allows you to take 20, 40or 60 hours of private language lessons in French/Dutch, English, Dutch/Flemish or German. These courses are tailored to meet the language challenge posed by your freshly found job.
I meet the conditions, how do I enrol?
If you meet the conditions, this is what you should do:
1. Before you have signed a contract with your future employer or officially launch your career as an independent schedule a visit with an ACTIRIS agency to take a language test. Based on your results, you will receive a voucher (“bon à valoir”) to start your private lessons.
2. After you have signed a contract with your employer or officially launched your career as a freelancer you have to exchange the voucher (“bon à valoir”) you received initially after the language test with an ACTIRIS agency for a Language Cheque “Job”, entitling you for a 20, 40 or 60 hours one-to-one language course. You will also have to have a copy of your employment contract or a copy of your official status as a freelancer in order to make this exchange. The Language Cheque “Job” is valid for 6 months from the date of issue and you have to have completed the entire course during this 6 months period.
Are there special conditions?
Your employment contract must specify that you will be employed at least for 6 months or for an undetermined period of time. You must be employed at least part-time. If you are a freelancer, this must be your main professional activity (at least 50 %).
